It's personal

My background spans 20+ years in corporate HR for some of the biggest brands in the world. Through my work I've helped thousands of people get their dream job, lead with confidence and deliver exceptional results in difficult circumstances.

I am also a survivor of childhood adversity, as well as a mother, a wife, and a friend. I know all too well what it is to navigate life and work with a history of trauma. In 2020 I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD and I've been studying how chronic childhood stress shapes us ever since.

My mission today is to empower people who've experienced hardship in their formative years to heal and thrive - at work and beyond.

In addition to running Trauma At Work I write a bi-weekly newsletter and I support Survivors Voices - a survivor-led organisation that turns the pain of abuse into power through peer support, activism, research, training and publishing.

Writing

Books, and later on podcasts and blogs, have always been a lifeline for me. Reading and listening to other people's stories have provided me with a level of validation, clarity and hope I couldn't find elsewhere.

I started writing in order to extend that lifeline to others. I decided to add my voice to the increasingly vocal segment of cPTSD survivors who are stepping forward to help others feel seen, validated, no longer fearful, isolated or ashamed.

Soon I discovered that writing isn't just a form of giving. Writing is a powerful catalyst for self-reflection and learning, a path to finding and becoming part of a tribe that finally feels right, and a form of activism directed at changing perceptions of complex trauma.
